In Art the children used pastels to create a picture to remind them of Bonfire Night and The Gunpowder Plot.
The theme for this years exhibition was 'The Lord's Prayer'. The children in Year One had to design a piece of artwork based on the following part of the prayer: 'Give us this day our daily bread'.
The children worked together to make a paper mache Bible in order to say thank you to God for all of the things that they have.
Our topic for D&T this half term is 'Teddy Bear's Picnic'. The children have received a special letter from Mr Bear asking for their help to design him a healthy picnic. We have looked at how we can keep our bodies healthy and where our food comes from.
On Tuesday 31st January we will be having our very own Teddy Bear's Picnic in the afternoon. The children will be making us a healthy snack to eat. They will also be invited to bring along their own favourite teddy.
World Book Day
For World Book Day this year each class had to decorate their classroom door in the style of one of their favourite books. Year 1 chose 'Rumble in the Jungle'.
The children worked very hard to create a paper plate animal from a poem in the book. Saffie and Riley worked together to make a fantastic paper chain snake to slither through the trees!
Our D&T topic this half term is 'Textiles' and the children will be making their very own minibeast! The children have practised their sewing skills by learning basic stitches.
In the next lesson the children designed their minibeast. They chose the coloured felt that they would like to use along with the different decorations they would need. They thought of some fantastic ideas!
We will be looking at Collage and African Art this half term. The children will be exploring African colour, shapes and patterns to make a collage of an African sunset. They will also be making African jewellery and masks.
Over the Summer Term the children will be learning about mechanisms so that they can make their own moving picture. They will explore picture books to see which parts move and learn how to make each different mechanism. They will then design and make their own moving picture to match a story. At the end of the project the children will use their moving picture to tell the story to Reception class.
