Autumn Term
The children have explored how to use the basic features of a computer such as switching it on, shutting it down, logging in and mouse control. During their first visit to the ICT Suite the children worked with a partner to practise using the keyboard and typing their full name.
Beebots
The children have been learning how to program a Beebot device. So far we have explored how all of the different buttons work and the different directions that a Beebot can travel in. Over the next few weeks the children will be using their skills to plan a route for the Beebot to follow.
The children have also had access to the Beebots during Continuous Provision. They have been set challenges by the Gruffalo to help him walk through the deep, dark woods. The children have made maps of the woods and given the Gruffalo (the Beebot) instructions.
Spring Term
This term the children have developed their word processing skills. They have used Purple Mash to create images and word process short texts. The children have also used the Internet to research their favourite animal so that they could write a fact file.
Safer Internet Day
Today the children have discussed and thought about how they can stay safe and what they like to do when using technology. We looked at pictures of different types of devices and technology that the children may use.
We talked about a 'digital footprint' and how it makes a picture of our likes and interests. The children made a footprint and drew pictures of what they like to do when using technology e.g. playing games or watching TV shows.
