Computing

Autumn Term

During our first week Year One we visited the ICT Suite for the first time. The children learnt how to switch the computer on and used special passwords to log onto Purple Mash. We then learnt how to control the mouse and use the keyboards by playing an alphabet game.

Spring Term

The children are developing their word processing skills this half term. They will be using Purple Mash and other programs to create images and word process short texts. The children have also used the Internet to research their favourite animal as part of their work on non-chronological texts.

Safer Internet Day

Today the children have discussed and thought about how they can stay safe and what they like to do when using technology. We started by looking at different devices and technology that the children use at school and home.

We also read a story about how to stay safe online including playing games. The children shared very sensible and thoughtful ideas.

"You must always ask a grown-up before you go on the computer." - Lilly-May

"If something pops up you tell someone." - Ryan

The children made some great posters to share what to do and what not to do when online.
