In September our new Playtime Leaders were appointed. A big well done to Logan, Daniel, Beth, Libby and Chad who are this year's leaders!

On Tuesday 9th October these children visited Brownedge St Mary's High School to participate in a training event. The children behaved beautifully and worked well with children from other local schools to learn a variety of games that they can teach to the rest of our school. Our Playtime Leaders will wear distinctive yellow bibs and will work alongside the welfare staff to organise activities at lunchtimes to encourage other children to be active and build up their fitness levels.

KS1 event

This week ten pupils from Years 1 and 2 attended a KS1 event at Worden Academy in Leyland. The children participated in a carousel of six different activities designed to get them physically active. Every child received a certificate for their participation. The children showed great listening skills, tried their best at each activity station and showed great teamwork skills. They are now very excited to continue playing games and being active back at school.

Children in Year 6 received training today from Charlotte, a coach from South Ribble. They will now work alongside the welfare staff at lunchtimes to encourage younger children to participate in team games. The Year 6 children practised their skills with the Year 1 children by teaching them some of the games they have learnt.

High 5 Netball coaching

On Monday 6th November, nine children from Year 6 participated in a High 5 Netball coaching session at Lostock Hall Academy. They learnt the rules of the game and lots of skills including different passes and footwork. We are hoping to make up a team ready for a tournament in the Spring Term.

Cheerleading

Over the last several weeks 10 children from Years 1 and 2 have worked with Sharn from South Ribble at Cheerleading Club. They have learnt lots of different moves to put together a routine. During the last session of the club the children invited along their parents to watch their show. They did a super job and we are now looking forward to incorporating it into our Infant Nativity production! Thank you to everyone who came along to watch.

Football Tournament

Recently our football team has participated in a weekly tournament at Lostock Hall Academy alongside other local schools. Prior to the tournament the team worked really hard in training sessions and even worked alongside Chris from PNE to develop their skills further.

Despite the freezing weather the team enjoyed playing in the matches and were proud to wear our brand new football kit from the Premier League. Well done Cuerden - we are super proud of your efforts!
