Charity at Christmas

At Christmas, the school will raise money through different events.

To which charity should we give the money?

School council discussed this question on Monday 12th November.

Each class had discussed various charities and why we should support them. The ideas included Cancer Research, St Catherine’s Hospice, Alder Hey Hospital, Save the Children, Children in Need, The Red Cross, Oxfam, Barnardo’s, Guide Dogs for the Blind and many more.

Every class had mentioned The Salvation Army. We shared our knowledge of what The Salvation Army do at Christmas, especially their work with homeless people. After some discussion, we decided to give the money from Christmas to The Salvation Army because they try to give a warm, safe and happy Christmas to people who would be alone at this time of year.

Most classes also wanted to give to Cancer Research as many families have been touched by this terrible disease. We decided to give the money raised by the Lenten charity to Cancer Research.
