Special Services

Water to wine

On Sunday 20th January, a group of children and the choir took worship in the Methodist Church. They told the story of how Jesus turned water into wine at the wedding in Cana. They shared their worship with the school on the following Monday. There was some fabulous acting, reading and singing and some very clever tricks from Mrs Sherry.

Carol Service Rehearsal

On Thursday 20th December, we all walked to St Saviours' Church to celebrate our Carol Service. It was lovely that so many friends and family joined us, not only at the service but also in the walk through Bamber Bridge.

The KS2 children led us in readings and carols to tell the story of that first Christmas and the birth of Jesus.

Graham and Andrew added the prayers and blessings.

Cuerden Church School remember

On 9th November, we had a special worship to remember all the people killed or wounded in wars. Every child made a poppy and wrote a prayer on the back. We began in the hall where Mrs Sherry helped us to think about how important Remembrance Day is. Then we all went along our Prayer Walk. The older children took a younger child. When we felt it was the right place, we said a quiet prayer and left our poppy. It was a beautiful and solemn occasion.
On Friday 5th October, the whole school walked to St Saviours Church for our Harvest Festival. We were joined by many friends and family members, and Graham and Andrew also took part with prayers and greetings. All the classes had a role to play in exploring the theme of a harvest of good deeds. The collection at the end went towards the Bishop of Blackburn's Harvest Appeal.
