Some children have been acting in role as shopkeepers and customers to find the coins that they need to make a total.
We have looked at wholes, halves and quarters of shapes. The children have also been busy cutting fruit and other food into fractions for their homework.

Year 1 have been learning all about weight in Maths recently. We have discussed vocabulary such as 'heavier' and 'lighter'. The children have been busy weighing lots of objects from around the classroom using non-standard units as well as solving weight problems.
We decided to use all of our new skills to follow the recipe to make a cake for the Sing for Spring event. The children had to balance the weight of an egg with flour, sugar and butter. The cake turned out looking delicious! Well done Year 1.
The children have been learning how to use tally charts this week and have used their knowledge of the five times tables to help them. The children then collected their own data on everyone's favourite fruits, vegetables, sandwich fillings, pets and ice cream flavours. They then put this information into block graphs.
Position and direction
The children have learnt the different vocabulary linked to positions, directions and turns this week. The children helped Peter Rabbit find some objects that he lost in the garden.
We also made maps to help Peter escape from Mr McGregor's garden and the children wrote instructions using the language that they have learnt including left, right, forwards and turn.
