We have had a lovely morning exploring prayer. The children have all had the chance to explore prayer in a variety of different ways.
For activity one the children had the chance to explore meditation. Some people believe that when we are still and calm it helps you to be grateful for the things in which you have.
Christians believe we are invited to bring our worries to God and He will give us peace in return.
Activity two was a reflection task. The children had a chance to reflect on times when we may have made mistakes or made wrong choices. The children had a chance to reflect on this and say sorry and that God will always forgive.
Activity three was a chance to show gratitude. The children thought about creation and God's wonderful world. We discussed the different ways we could talk to God and how we should show thanks. The children then had the chance to create a beautiful prayer tree by adding their fingerprint when they have had their conversation with God. The colour chosen represents what they have chosen to say to God.
For activity four the children explored the faith of Islam. The children learnt how lots of people pray in different ways. They learnt how a Muslim must perform the wudu and wash in a set way before they pray. They then use a prayer mat to pray towards the holy city of Mecca. They also have different prayer positions in which they perform their prayers.
