Autumn Term
Handball whole school festival
On Friday 3rd October, the whole school participated in a Handball festival with Andy from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The children participated in lots of games and mini-competitions whilst learning the skills of this sport.
Dance whole school festival
On Monday 1st December, the whole school participated in a Dance festival with Beth from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The children learnt a routine to a piece of music which gave them the opportunity to practise a variety of skills including projection and musicality.
Year 5 Playtime Leader's training
The children in Year 5 have had the opportunity to work alongside Andy from the South Ribble Active Health Team this half term to learn and develop their skills so that tehy are able to run mini activities for children across the school at lunchtimes. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed this session and they are looking forward to launching their lunchtime club after half term!
Spring Term
Inclusion whole school festival
On Wednesday 28th January, the whole school participated in an Inclusion festival with Andy from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The children participated in lots of different sports and activities including boccia. Everybody had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you, Andy!
Wellbeing whole school festival
On Monday 23rd February, the whole school participated in a Wellbeing festival with Tanya from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The children learnt some yoga movements, salutations and breathing techniques. Thank you, Tanya - everyone enjoyed spending time in the hall relaxing and joining in with your mindfulness activities.
Tennis whole school festival
On Wednesday 15th April, the whole school participated in a Tennis festival with Andy from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The children learnt the skills needed to play this net & wall game as well as developing their hand-eye co-ordination. It was a lot of fun - well done everyone!
Summer Term
World Cup football festival
To celebrate the World Cup football tournament, Andy from the South Ribble Active Health Team led a football workshop with Year 3 and Year 4 on Wednesday 3rd June. The workshop gave children the opportunity to develop their football skills through a range of fun, engaging activities inspired by the excitement of the World Cup. Throughout the session, the children demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination, and resilience while improving their passing, dribbling, shooting, and communication skills. They embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and encouraged one another, creating a positive and inclusive sporting environment.
Tri-Golf whole school festival
On Friday 19th June, Key Stage Two participated in a Tri-Golf festival with Andy from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The children learnt the different skills needed to play this sport.
Colour Run
On Friday 19th June, the whole school participated in a Colour Run on the school field. All of the children and grown-ups had a great time!
Scoot Safe
On Monday 29th June, Year 3 participated in ‘Scoot Safe’ where they learnt how to scoot safely to and from school. Mush, a coach from the South Ribble Active Health Team, taught the children about the importance of wearing a helmet and using other safety equipment as well as identifying the parts of a scooter including the handle bars, frame, break, grip, clamp, deck and wheels. Mush showed the children how they need to check these parts of their scooter so that they know it is safe to use. Later on in the afternoon, the children then went outside onto the playground to practice that they had learnt.
