Autumn Term

 

Target Sports

This half term children in Years 3 and 4 are enjoying participating in 'Target Sports' each week with Anthony from South Ribble Sports Development. The children have been using different skills to play different target sports. The children have developed their aiming skills through archery, curling, hockey and bowling. 

Tag Rugby competition

On Tuesday 28th September, ten children from Year 5 participated in a tag rugby festival with other local schools. The children had a fabulous time and were even complimented by Andy, a coach from South Ribble Sports Development Team, on their defending skills! The whole team showed great manners, respect and sportsmanship throughout each match - well done Year 5! 

Dodgeball competition

On Tuesday 9th November, eight children from Y5 and Y6 participated in a Dodgeball competition with other local schools. The children had a fantastic time trying this new sport for the first time! Everybody worked together as a team, showed great sportsmanship and used the tactics they needed throughout each game. Well done Year 5 & 6!

Fun Fitness

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have worked alongside coaches Tanya and Sarah from the South Ribble Active Health Team this half term. They have joined in with a variety of fun cardio sessions which have included dance, aerobics, skipping and circuits. 

Wheels Club

Children in KS2 have participated in Wheels Club this half term which has built on their cycling and scooting skills. The children have participated in fun bike-based and scooting challenges!

Spring Term

 

Multi-Games

Children in Years 3 and 4 have had a super time working alongside Andy, a coach from the South Ribble Active Health Team in 'Multi-Games' club. They have learnt and mastered fundamental movement skills through a variety of games. The children have been running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as practising their balancing, co-ordination and agility. 

Play and Skills at Tea-time Activities club (PASTA)

Children from Years 1 to 4 have been participated in PASTA Club this half term with Jake from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The aim of the club is to educate children and their families about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and exercise. The club has included: 

  • An evening healthy meal for the children to eat either during the club or to take home. 
  • A 'play at home' bag of equipment including game cards that the whole family can enjoy. 
  • PASTA after school club in which the children take part in various types of exercise including running, hopping, skipping and jumping to increase their physical fitness. 
  • A booklet which includes recipes, activities and games for families to continue using in the future.

Summer Term

 

Rackets Club

Children in Years 2 and 3 worked alongside a coach from the South Ribble Active Health Team this half term to play the net and wall games badminton and tennis. The children learnt a variety of skills including throwing and catching underarm, hitting a ball from a target and aiming when using a racket. 

Cheerleading Club

This half term children from Years 3 to 6 have thoroughly enjoyed participating in Cheerleading Club alongside Katie, a coach from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The children worked together to create a cheerleading routine to a piece of music. 

Football competition

On Tuesday 3rd May, ten children from Years 5 and 6 participated in a football competition with other local schools. The children had a great time throughout the tournament. They showed fantastic sportsmanship, working together as a team and had great manners and respect for the other players and coaches. Well done everyone!

Dance Club

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been attending Dance Club this half term with Katie from the South Ribble Active Health Team.

Fencing Club

Children from Key Stage Two have enjoyed working with Jake this half term, a coach from the South Ribble Active Health Team, to learn all about fencing!

Athletics competition

On Tuesday 14th June, eight children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 attended an athletics competition at Lostock Academy. The children competed in several events including a 50m sprint, long distance running, a relay race, standing jump, long jump and throwing. The children showed several of our Christian Values including perseverance, determination, kindness and respect. They behaved beautifully and encouraged each other in every event. We were very proud to come 1st, 2nd and 3rd in some of the events! A big well done to everyone and thank you to all of the parents and carers who came along to spectate.
