At Cuerden Church School, we aim to provide a maths education which allows all our pupils to flourish in an environment where they feel valued and have the courage to share their learning with others. Our curriculum has been designed to support our pupils on their journey through school by supporting them at every step to become confident mathematicians. Our pupils are taught how to respond and work with their peers and as a result, are able to discuss the work of others in a respectful manner.  

Our Maths curriculum aims to ensure that all children become fluent and automatic in the fundamentals of Mathematics; are able to reason mathematically and can solve problems by applying their maths knowledge.  These skills are embedded within the structure of the Maths lessons and developed consistently over time.  We are committed to ensuring that children are able to recognise the importance of Maths in the wider world, particularly its importance in and for employment. We want all children to enjoy Mathematics and to experience success in the subject, with the ability to reason mathematically. We are committed to developing children’s curiosity about the subject, as well as an appreciation of the beauty and power of Mathematics.
