Autumn Term

Target Sports

This half term children from Year 3 and Year 4 have participated in a 'Target Sports' after school club with Tanya from the South Ribble Active Health Team. They have learnt different skills to play a variety of games and have enjoyed working together in teams. 

 

Boys Football competition

Children from Year 5 and Year 6 have attended a weekly football tournament this half term. The boys thoroughly enjoyed representing school and were so enthusiastic despite the rain and freezing weather conditions! They showed super teamwork, communication and perseverance skills even when playing in the pouring rain! A big well done to the whole team and a special thank you to the families who came to support them each week.

Girls Football 

On Tuesday 17th October, children from Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 attended a Girls Football competition at the 3G pitches at Withy Grove. They played several matches against other local schools and for many of the children who went along this was the first time they had played football competitively! The team showed great sportsmanship, determination, teamwork and perseverance. They worked together very well and scored several goals! The team are now excited to compete again in a tournament later on in the year. A big well done to the whole team and a special thank you to the families who came to support them.

 

 

KS1 Multi-Skills event

A group of children from Year 1 and Year 2 attended a multi-skills event at Lostock Hall Academy this week. They had great fun joining in with lots of different activities to practise their fundamental movement skills including throwing, catching, running, hopping and jumping. 

Cheerleading 

This half term children from Key Stage Two have worked alongside Tanya from the South Ribble Active Health Team to participate in a Cheerleading club. The children have learnt how to put together a Cheerleading routine to a piece of music. 

Tag Rugby competition

This half term children from Year 5 and 6 have participated in a Tag Rugby competition with other local schools. The team worked together fantastically throughout the tournament in some pretty terrible weather conditions! The children thoroughly enjoyed learning the rules of the sport and received compliments on their teamwork and perseverance from the coaches. Well done everyone!

 

 

Spring Term

Boxing 

This half term children from Key Stage Two have worked with Tanya from the South Ribble Active Health Team to learn the rules of Non-Contact Boxing. 

 

Zumba

Children from Year 5 and 6 have worked with Jess Lewis this half term to learn all about Zumba. The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning high-energy Zumba dance routines. Everyone who participated received a certificate and a big well done to Faye who won a trophy for her super participation!

Tennis festival

On Tuesday 6th February, a group of children from Year 3 and Year 4 attended a Tennis festival at the South Ribble Tennis Centre. The children learnt the rules of this sport as well as developing their hand-eye co-ordination. It was a lot of fun and the children all received a certificate for their participation. Well done everyone!

 

Netball

This half term children from Year 5 and Year 6 are working with Tanya from the South Ribble Active Health Team to learn the rules of Netball. 

 

Zumba

Children from Year 3 and Year 4 are working with Jess Lewis this half term to learn all about Zumba.
