Worship and Prayer
Our worship week:
Monday | On Monday the whole school meets together and Mrs Sherry tells us more about the special Christian value for that half term and how it can help us make our school a happy, caring place.
|
Tuesday | On Tuesday, a different teacher or visitor leads our worship. During this time of worship we will continue to think about British values and how they connect to our school Christian values. We will also use this time to explore Faith-in-Action and how we can learn from others actions.
|
Wednesday | On Wednesday, sometimes we have a song practice to help us to worship through the weeks to come. Sometimes we have worship in our class family. Sometimes we have a special Class Worship when one class prepares a worship for us all to enjoy.
|
Thursday | On Thursday either Sharon or Matt (the Methodist and Anglican ministers respectively) lead our worship.
|
Friday | The whole school unites to celebrate our Christian values and give out awards. We recognise individual successes and triumphs in our Being Brilliant Assembly. We all applaud as we encourage each other to be the best we can be.

The worship at Cuerden Church School is built around our special Christian values of love, compassion, hope, forgiveness, courage, respect and trust. Every half term, we look closely at what the Bible can teach us about one particular Christian value and we talk about how it can help us to live according to the teachings of Jesus.
Each week we listen to stories from the Bible. We journey through the Old and New Testaments looking at God’s plans and purposes from Creation, to the Cross and into the future. We also learn about the major Christian festivals.
Our Thursday worship is led by the clergy. During Advent and Lent, it takes place in the Methodist Church to emphasise the importance of Christmas and Easter. Our main services at Harvest, Christmas and Easter are held in St Saviour's Church and the whole school works hard to make these celebrations special for the school, friends and family.
Once every school year, each class prepares and presents a special Family Worship. They choose a theme and work hard to combine readings, music and Bible verses to share their message with us all. At the end of the school year the children in Year 6 present their own Leavers' Service to mark their moving on from our Cuerden Church School family. Parents, friends, governors and church members are always invited to join us at all these important times.
