Geography
Within our enquiry-led Geography curriculum, we seek to equip children with the skills, knowledge and understanding that they need to think creatively and critically, to investigate and to ask questions to enable them to gain a greater understanding, knowledge and appreciation of the world and their place in it. Through the development of a carefully sequenced geography curriculum with growing geographical vocabulary and knowledge, we want to inspire passion within our children. Our curriculum recognises the priority of introducing new vocabulary alongside opportunities to commit learning to long term memory by revisiting and making connections. As our pupils progress through the school they will study both their immediate surroundings then progress to places and environments in the wider world. Their increased geographical skills and growing knowledge about the world will help them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. Our aim is to create respectful, responsible and caring global citizens with a sound knowledge basis who recognise how people and places change over time.
