Autumn Term 

Target Sports

Children in Year 3 and Year 4 have been enjoying participating in 'Target Sports' Club each week with Tanya from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The children have been learning different skills to play a variety of different sports. 

 

Girls Football 

On Tuesday 13th September, children from Year 5 and Year 6 attended a Girls Football festival at Lostock Hall Academy and played several matches against other local schools. For many of the children who attended this was their first time playing football competitively. The girls showed several of our Christian Values including determination, friendship, perseverance and courage. They are now looking forward to a tournament later on in the year.

Sports Hall Athletics

On Tuesday 4th October, a group of children from Years 5 and 6 attended a Sports Hall Athletics competition at Lostock Hall Academy. The team competed in several different athletics events including relay races and sprinting. Everybody showed several of our Christian Values including perseverance, determination and respect. The children behaved excellently and they all encouraged each other through every event. A big well done to everyone! 

 

PASTA Club (Play and Skills at Tea-time Activities)

Children and their families from Reception to Year 3 have participated in PASTA Club this half term with Jake, Sarah and Katie from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The aim of the club is to educate children and their families about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and exercise. The club has included: 

  • Preparing a healthy meal for the children to take home. 
  • Ideas for games that the whole family can enjoy.
  • PASTA after school club in which the children take part in various types of exercise including running, hopping, skipping and jumping to increase their physical fitness. 
  • A booklet which includes recipes, activities and games for families to continue using in the future.

Dodgeball competition

Eight children from Year 3 and Year 4 took part in a Dodgeball competition in November at Lostock Hall Academy. The team played against several other local schools and practised the skills they have learnt in PE such as dodging, defending and overarm throwing.

Tag Rugy competition

In December, several children from Years 5 and 6 participated in a Tag Rugby competition with other local schools. The children had a time and showed brilliant effort and sportsmanship despite the icy weather conditions!

Spring Term 

 

KS1 Multi-Skills event

Four children from Year 1 and 2 attended a Multi-Skills event on Tuesday 10th January at Lostock Hall Academy. The children participated in different events such as dodgeball, curling, boccia and an obstacle and relay race. Everybody had a lot of fun and showed lots of our Christian Values throughout the event. Well done! 

Non-Contact Boxing

Children in KS2 have thoroughly enjoyed participating in a boxing club this half term. They have learnt basic movements including dodging and worked with a partner.

Netball 

This half term children from Years 5 and 6 have enjoyed participating in a Netball club with Tanya from the South Ribble Active Health Team. The children have learnt different tactics including dodging and also different passes including chest pass and bounce pass. They have enjoyed playing competitive games against each other in small teams. 

Zumba

This half term children in Years 5 and 6 have participated in a Zumba dance club with Jess from JLFitness. The children have joined in with warm up games, a fun variety of Zumba dances and cool down games.
