At Cuerden Church School, we provide a design technology curriculum which promotes challenge, teamwork and resilience. We teach our pupils the skills and knowledge to solve real life and relevant issues within a range of contexts ensuring that the final product meets the criteria. We provide pupils with a foundation for learning in DT which gives them the determination to explore, fail, adapt and succeed in finding solutions. Our design technology curriculum relies heavily upon the knowledge and skills gained in science, art and design and mathematics and therefore provides plenty of opportunities for pupils to work collaboratively, trust in each other and grow from each other’s strengths. Our curriculum has been carefully designed to allow pupils to revisit the skills and knowledge from previous years and utilise their developing understanding to explore current and existing products, create their own innovative designs, make and evaluate their final products against a success criteria. We hope to inspire all our pupils to become resourceful, innovative and capable citizens with the knowledge that everything is possible.
