Visits and Visitors

Debt Awareness with Mr Souter - 11th October

On 11th October, Mr Souter came to talk to us about money. We learned about paying for 'needs' and 'wants' and how to spend money wisely. We thought about how there are risks involved with money and how it can affect your emotions. This sounds very serious but Mr Souter made it very entertaining as well as informative.

The Art of Being Brilliant - 8th to 10th November

We had three sessions with Will. He showed us how we could make small changes to the way we think about ourselves, our lives and our school work. These small changes to our thinking could make a huge difference to how we feel and how we work in school. He helped us to see how to take tiny steps towards being the sort of person we want to be. He started us on a journey to being the best version of us we could. We did lots of listening, talking, thinking, acting and some juggling and cup stacking. He left us with ideas to use when he had gone. It was very inspirational.

Handwashing - 9th December

Anna came to show us how to make sure that we are washing our hands properly. She told us all about what can happen when we don't do hand washing correctly. She used some special hand gel and a UV light machine to demonstrate how we can leave dirt, bacteria and viruses on our hands if we don't follow the directions for thorough handwashing.

Debt Awareness with Mr Souter - 8th February

Mr Souter came for his second visit of the year and we learned about saving money and being prepared for unexpected bills and expenses. Although this is an important and serious topic, Mr Souter made it fun.

Thinking about computer games - 9th February

Sam came to talk to us about the dangers of spending too much time on computer or online games. He was very honest and told us about his own experiences as a teenager. Many of us went away and thought carefully about the consequences of too much computer time and a number of children have decided to make an effort to change this part of their lives.

Life Bus - Friends - 24th March

Steve came to talk to us about friends and friendships. We thought especially about how to deal with situations where your friends are trying to persuade you to do something you don't want to. He helped us to understand what is going on and gave us some tips for saying 'no' but remaining friends. At the end of the afternoon he got Harold the puppet out and he gave us all a sticker.
